Applications are now open for the City’s Roof Replacement Program

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The City of Fort Wayne announced Monday morning that it will now be accepting applications for a roof replacement program following recent storms that caused extensive damage.

The Office of Housing & Neighborhood Services says the program offers those who qualify a zero-interest loan to replace the roof on their home. They say the loans will be secured by a mortgage and the repayment will have to be made in monthly installments over a period of 10 years.

To qualify, they say residents must own their home, it must be their primary residence, and the home must be within the city limits. Applicants must also have a household income at or below 80% of the area’s median income, or $57,500 for a family of four, the city’s website says.

Interested residents can apply online here. Anyone who prefers a paper application can call 260-427-8585, and a city representative will call them back in the order of calls received to determine their eligibility.

Officials say the program is funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and is limited. They note that applications will be reviewed on a first-in, first-out basis.
