Applications Available for North Island Credit Union Teacher Grants

**Credit Union Encourages San Diego County Teachers to Apply for Innovative Classroom Project Grant**

SAN DIEGO, August 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — North Island Credit Union encourages San Diego County teachers who have an innovative classroom project idea to apply for a grant from the credit union through its semi-annual teacher scholarship program.

The North Island Credit Union grant program is available to full-time teachers of San Diego and Riverside Countyor members of credit unions who teach in California, seeking to fund special learning opportunities for their students. The project must have clearly defined learning objectives linked to the academic needs of the students, be creative and benefit a significant number of students. Ten North Island Credit Union grants from $500 each will be awarded to area teachers in late October as part of the fall program.

“Over the past decade of teacher grants, we’ve seen some amazing programs come to life. We hope our local teachers will make their dream project a reality by applying for a fall grant,” said North Island Credit Union President and CEO. Steve O’Connell. “Our goal is to provide a little extra support for teachers, who work so hard to engage their students in innovative ways. Since the program was created in 2012, the credit union has awarded $155,000 in teacher scholarships for the benefit of students across Southern California. The Spring Grants program has funded a wide range of projects, including creating a STEAM egg drop challenge, developing multicultural art and reading programs, organizing a program for Girl Boss young entrepreneurs and the creation of a multidisciplinary nature journaling project, among others.
