Applications for City of Muncie Youth Mentoring and Summer Employment Program Now Open — Muncie Journal

MUNCIE, IN—The City of Muncie Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the @Promise Youth Mentor & Summer Employment program beginning June 1st – July 8and2022.

This program is open to students ages 12-16 and residing in Muncie, IN. Selected students, up to 100, will be contacted for an interview prior to acceptance into the program.

Students selected to participate in the summer program will work every Thursday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Work sites will include, but not be limited to, Muncie Parks, YMCA, YWCA, Second Harvest Food Bank, Cornerstone Center for the Arts, Muncie Mission and Victory Lap.

Students will also participate in a mandatory mentorship program every Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., focused on STEM with Purdue Extension of Delaware County and financial literacy by Thrive Credit Union.

The Muncie Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Thrive Credit Union, which will allow participants to open individual accounts to improve their knowledge of financial responsibility.

All events and sessions are mandatory, and any inexcusable absence will result in exclusion from the program.

Interviews for students will begin the week of March 28 and continue through April 1. Additional interviews will take place from April 18 to April 22.
