Westoba looking for grant applications – DiscoverWestman.com

A western Manitoba credit union is looking for community groups in need of project support.

Westoba Inspire, the community investment program of Westoba Credit Unions, is accepting applications in March for large community infrastructure projects up to $10,000.00. The Inspire program offers funding opportunities for a variety of projects that cater to a wide range of ages and demographics.

“We’ve funded seniors’ organizations, youth activities, community recreation facilities and more since this program launched in 2017,” said Jim Rediger, president of Westoba and EO.

“We’re excited to see what projects our communities are working on and how Westoba can help support those efforts.”

Applicants must be a non-profit, charitable or community organization or have a charitable tax agent to act on their behalf. Applications are reviewed by Westoba’s Community Board, which includes staff, membership and board representatives. Successful applications are chosen based on their ability to align with Westoba’s goal of supporting community infrastructure.

“Grants vary, but we probably distribute grants twice a year. It has been a great success and we have funded projects worth over $180,000. We are looking for projects that are multifunctional and serve a long-term purpose in a community,” Rediger said.

Westoba Inspire applications will be accepted through an online application form available March 1-31 at www.westobainspire.com.

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be a nonprofit charity, support community infrastructure projects that are locally initiated or have a clear local impact; are inclusive and bring people together; are long-term or multifunctional; and promote stay, participation and engagement in an enriched community.
